(Frequently Asked Questions)

What can be used to grease the slewing rings?

For the greasing of open slewing rings and chains it's better to use greases with "0" to "2" NLGI consistencies or spray greases.
For covered gears or centralized lubrication systems we suggest to use greases with NLGI "00" or "0" and, if necessary, with E.P. features.

Is it correct to use the Urania Daily on prechamber engines?

Yes, obtaining benefits for the fuel economy. For these engines anyway is binding a reduction of the drain interval, which must not exceed 7.500 km.
On direct injection engines (non-common rail) the drain interval recommended is 30,000 km and on SOFIM engines is 40,000 km.

Can Urania LD5 and Urania FE be used on the engines precedent to Tector?

Yes, without problems.
Moreover the Urania FE assures benefits for the fuel economy.
Iveco doesn’t admit higher drain intervals neither on the Tector engines nor on the precedent ones of the Eurocargo range.

Is it possible to blend different lubricants?

The mixture of different oils made by the same producer usually don’t cause problems of performance.
We recommend not to blend lubricants with different characteristics (i.e. gasoline-diesel) even if produced by the same company.
On principle, it’s important to avoid the blending of lubricants made by different producers because they don’t have the same technologies and additives. These mixtures could give rise to incompatibility problems and separate the additives, which emerge as ineffective and could arouse concrete problems.
In an emergency it’s possible to re-fill with another product, but it’s necessary to replace all the lubricant afterwards.

The Selenia lubricants become dark, while the other ones after 10,000 km are still clear. Why?

The darkening of a lubricant is a merit and not a defect. It means that the detergent and disperdant additives worked well.
In particular it means that the detergent additives washed away the residuals which took shape during the combustion and that the disperdant ones kept them in suspension, avoiding the precipitation.
It all means to keep the engine clean.

Is a lubricant for natural gas engines different from an oil for petrol engines?

A product specific for natural gas engines assures the same performance as a traditional lubricant, but must make up for the problems of lubrication due to the drier combustion produced by the gas.
In other words it’s a lubricant for petrol engines with a specific additivation to work in natural gas engines.

What’s the difference between TUTELA W 90/M-DA and TUTELA W 140/M-DA?

The only difference is the viscosity. These products assure the same performance, but the W90/M-DA is more fluid, while the W140/M-DA is more viscous.
