STEPS IN OIL MANUFACTURING PROCESS
ANALYSIS OF RAW MATERIAL
VISCOSIMETER
The
time taken by a pre-determined quantity of oil to travel through a glass
capillary tube of known dimensions, which is immersed in a bath kept at
a constant temperature of 100° C, is measured and used to determine
its viscosity.
TITRATION
When
an oil is mixed with a reactant that changes colour in relation to pH levels,
the former will resist colour changes by a degree determined by its composition.
By measuring how long this oil takes to change colour, one can determine
the concentration of its additives.
